The mind-bending echochrome is coming out on PS3 and PSP tomorrow — just one week after the release of last week’s demo. Both versions will cost $9.99 each. The PS3 and PSP version both feature 56 unique levels each, with plans for more downloadable levels in the future. With a level editor included in both versions, this is an incredible value.
Stay tuned for our full review.

If you were on the fence about picking up R-Type Command, you may want to think again. Pre-orders of the upcoming tactical game will receive a rather spectacular bonus: a replica R-Type ship! For fans of the franchise, this bonus alone should be worth the cost of admission. Pre-order bonuses are available at amazon.com, GameStop and GameCrazy.

Yahtzee, popular narrator of the video game review series “Zero Punctuation” has a new review this week for the system-selling Grand Theft Auto IV God of War: Chains of Olympus. PSP fans may be unfamiliar with the host’s brutally honest (and hilarious) takes on today’s most popular games — you’re in for a treat. Watch, and tell us if you agree.

The Japanese PSN is updated yet again with a number of obscure games you’ve most likely never played. Many are shoot-em-ups, or shmups for short, and they’re ideal for PSP play, no? Those with access to the Japanese Store can download for only 600 yen:
- Wizard’s Harmony
- Pro-Mahjong Kiwame Tengensenhen
- Joshikouki no Houkago… Pukunpa

Atlantic Link is now offering PSP owners the most valuable gift of all: the gift of learning. Their e-learning tools can now design courses for the PSP’s internet browser, which can be deployed from Memory Stick or online. The tools allow creators to adapt their programs to the small screen.
Mike Alcock from Atlantic Link is perhaps a bit too enthusiastic about the possibilities of this service. In their press release, he notes: “The potential applications for this technology are huge and almost mind-boggling. Tourist guides, language training, product training and updates, maintenance guides and training, medical training, interactive museum guides, schools training, the list is almost endless.”
It’s great to see a company expand their offering to focus on Sony’s handheld. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll all be learning through our PSPs thanks to Atlantic Link. To see a demo of the service on your PSP, click here.

The new Ghostbusters game is coming out on all platforms. All of them, except PSP. However, that could change. Executive producer Brendan Goss told Eurogamer: “There are discussions right now about a PSP version.”
If Sony’s handheld were to receive its own version of the Ghostbusters game, expect it to be based off the PS2 version. “We’re waiting to see how the PS2 stuff goes from a technical side with memory, then it may get ported to the PSP.”

It may be a mere handheld game, but Crisis Core serves as a vital part of the Final Fantasy VII universe. It doesn’t just simply expand upon the story, but actually fixes an error made in a different part of the “Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.”
Hideki Imaizumi, producer of Crisis Core, talked about the “Last Order” anime OVA (pictured) with IGN. Released as a bonus with Advent Children in Japan, the animated short also focused on Zack and the role he played in Nibelheim. “When we made that feature, we changed the presentation of that event from the original Final Fantasy VII. And the fan response was - well, there was considerable negative feedback in regard to changing a part of the story that they considered integral to the whole lore.”
Thankfully, Crisis Core was able to set things straight, restoring the canon that so many Final Fantasy VII devotees pore over. “So we listened to that and learned from that. And in fact the Nibelheim incident is presented again in Crisis Core, and we were careful not to make the same decisions that we did in Last Order.”

Square Enix’s PSP remake of Star Ocean may finally be getting a US release. At least, if this information on GameFly is to be believed. The popular online rental site lists a September 30th date for the game. Most likely, this is simply a placeholder.
It’s not a question of if, but when, Square Enix will officially announce a US release for the Star Ocean remakes. With many finishing Crisis Core, tons of PSP fans are awaiting their next RPG adventure.

We don’t know what to say about Fate/Tiger Colosseum UPPER. While we’re always happy for more games on PSP (especially fighters), we’re a bit perturbed by these initial shots. The textures look ancient, and the gameplay has us scratching our heads. We know the anime series has its fair share of fans, so maybe we’re missing something about this game’s appeal.
Well, at least there’s anime babes — if that’s your sort of thing.

At New York Comic Con, Southpeak Games announced the US release of B-Boy for PSP and PS2. Majed got some hands-on time with the game, noting that “while the game has been around for at least two years, time hasn’t really affected it much. The game still feels fresh.”
A US release is coming in the next few months, and to celebrate, Southpeak got a few dancers to perform at the show. Here they are, for your watching enjoyment.
